We will have lighthouse merchandise: Baseball hats, beanies, t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. We will also have local artists selling Coquille River Lighthouse art and photos. Join for a fun lunch while you support our efforts to save our lighthouse.

Three Rivers Foundation Grant

Winter 2025 - Failing roof and Gutter System

A huge thank you to the Three Rivers Foundation for awarding a $2.200.00 grant towards the storyboard project. The storyboard project is the only project we can actually implement without the permission of the US Army Corps of Engineers. The storyboards will be sign panels that will be placed along the walkway to the lighthouse. Since the lighthouse is not ADA compliant and is closed six months of the year, these panel will tell the story of the lighthouse and the history of the area all year long.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Review of our Restoration Plan

In early April, after a year wait, we were finally assigned a reviewer at the US Army Corps of Engineers to begin the review process of our lighthouse restoration plan for the stairs, railing and roof repairs. Our request was accepted and is current under review. We were informed that the process takes approximately nine months. We will be submitted our project plan to get power out to the lighthouse soon. We are unable to do any repair work to the lighthouse without the written approval.

A recent assessment of the health of the Lighthouse structure by the State of Oregon Historical Engineer revealed that the very old roof on the lighthouse is failing. The copper gutter system along the top of the building has failed to the degree that water is intruding into the brick, mortar and plaster undermining the integrity of the building. A recent storm blew a section of ridge shingles off. Everything is at a standstill until we receive approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

This situation is now quite urgent.‍ ‍

We are working with the State of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to develop the construction documents to get bids and secure funding. Due to budget constraints with OPRD, raising matching funds from the community and lighthouse supporters is critical to make this happen. Please consider donating and sharing this information.

Fall 2025 - Repair the Stairs Project

The stairs and railings are in desperate need of repair and could become a safety hazard.

Thank you to all the lighthouse lovers who came out to our “Save the Lighthouse” event. The money raised is designated to cover the cost for granite repair on the steps and to replace the railings. We are in process to get repair quotes and approval from Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to begin the repairs.
