Winter 2025 - Failing roof and Gutter System

A recent assessment of the health of the Lighthouse structure by the State of Oregon Historical Engineer revealed that the very old roof on the lighthouse is failing. The copper gutter system along the top of the building has failed to the degree that water is intruding into the brick, mortar and plaster undermining the integrity of the building. A recent storm blew a section of ridge shingles off. Everything is at a standstill until we receive approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Our project has been submitted and accepted and is three months into a nine month approval process as of August 2026.

We are working with the State of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to develop the construction documents to get bids and secure funding. Due to budget constraints with OPRD, raising matching funds from the community and lighthouse supporters is critical to make this happen. Please consider donating and sharing this information.
